Bethel 107 - 2008
Hey everyone, My name is Genesis and I'm the new Bethel news reporter for this term. Here are some of the fun things our girls have been up to this term. Back in June, we went to Holiday World. We had a blast! It was so much fun. Most of us spent all day in the water park. Ouch! Did we get sunburned! Our term started with Installation on June 14th. We had 18 girls installed that day. (Felicity couldn't be installed because she was the installing officer.) Only one of our girls was missing that day. We have a full corp of officers including a musician and a flag bearer. All we need is more choir members. Our new line officers are: Virginia, HQ, Jamie, SP, Nicole, JP, Genesis, Guide, and Emily, Marshal.
Back in June, we went to Grand Session. It was a lot of fun! There was a football camp there and a lot of our girls were drooling over the boys. There was a lake and we had to take a swim test to go to the deep water. One girl had to be saved by the lifeguard! The paddle boats and canoes were fun, some got tipped over. We hung a dead fish on one of our adult's door with a sign that said, "Gone Fishing!" You may have heard the screaming. It was so much fun! Our banner got 1st place. We got a lot of other awards for ritual and arts & crafts. This was the first Grand Session for a lot of our girls. I think we all had fun. We were excited to see Jamie caped and crowned and George installed as AGG. There were 2 chocolate fountains with fruit and things to dip in them. Our girls and even some adults decided to just drink it in a cup. Yummo!
We had a school of instruction at our Bethel and the all day school of instruction. Becca taught us some awesome warm ups. We also had a yuk night after one of our meetings. Shaving cream is soo much fun! Jamie's brother, Chris, or Buddah, was installed as Master Councilor of Hendricks County DeMolay. We went and formed the cross. The helium in the balloons made us talk funny! The skittles were great. Our Bethel loves skittles! There was a movie night, but I couldn't go. Felicity was being honored for completing 10 years in 4-H and she got the Farm Bureau Tenure award. Way to go, Felicity! We had a car wash at the bank. Some of the girls went to the Conclave Dance. I heard it was fun and one of girls (a little redhead) found romance!
Then at the end of July a few of us went to Supreme Session in Wisconsin. At the Supreme Bethel Meeting, I was drawn out as Supreme Bethel Rep. to Ontario! I got a new dress at a resale shop in Madison called "Betty Bling." It was awesome! Our messenger team had cute pink outfits and we had a great time modeling them. The Indiana get together was at this really awesome restaurant that looked like an oil change place. Our waiter was really cute. The girl from Nevada who is our Supreme Rep. went with us and we had a lot of fun. Becca did an awesome job at pageant. A lot of Indiana girls had black and white boas and there were feathers all over the place. It was really cool when everyone sang "Nearer my God to Thee" at midnight on the hotel balconies. I hope I can go to Virginia next year. Our official visit was fun and we had an awesome librarians report, "Walk like a Job's Daughter." It was like so crowded, everyone was there, all the misses, all the Supreme messenger, lots and lots of visiting daughters. Thank you for coming. We are so glad that is over. Good luck on your OV's. Don't forget to check out our website and sign our guestbook. http://www.brownsburg-iojd.org/
See you at Job-A-Rama! Shakamak is awesome, I've been to camp there. You'll love it!

Bethel 24 - August 2009
Just wanted to share with everyone Bethel #24's success this past weekend. We did a great job at the Yard Sale on Saturday. The Bethel made $200.00. Corbin's Karate Academy and Job's Daughters split the profits of the Yard Sale down the middle. (Corbin's Karate Academy is owned by Cassidy's Dad and my husband.) We did a few things for the Bethel on Saturday:
* Fund-raising
* Promotion of the Order of Job's Daughters - We had a banner and promotional materials available.
* Service Project - Items not purchased at the Yard Sale were donated to the Goodwill.
* Collected more aluminum cans and tabs
* Took pictures for the Scrapbook
Allie W, our newest member (Cassidy's cousin and my niece), and Cassidy did a great job. They helped take everything from our house to the Karate School and then loaded everything to take to the Yard Sale site, where they unloaded and set-up the Yard Sale. They talked about Jobies, helped take what people bought to their cars, worked throughout the day and then loaded everything to take to the Goodwill.

Bethel 24 - More August 2009
Saturday, August 8, 2009
We held a yard sale, along with Corbin’s Karate Academy (which Cassidy’s dad owns). Cassidy, her mom, Julia and I helped with the set-up and the take-down of the yard sale items and helped people to their cars with the items they purchased. We also collected aluminum cans for our Bethel and aluminum can tabs. Once the yard sale was over, anything not sold was donated to the Goodwill.
Friday, August 14, 2009
Emily and her mom, Amanda, took stuffed animals to the Jeffersonville Police Department for their Bears on Patrol program and school supplies to Northhaven Elementary for the kindergarten teachers. Emily goes to school at Northhaven. The stuff animals and school supplies were collected by the members of Bethel #24.

The Bethel held a Car Wash at the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in Jeffersonville. It was a wonderful sunny day for a car wash and we had a great time, especially playing in the water and a number of us got sunburned. The girls that were there were: Cassidy, Emily, Rachel, Sabrina and Sam. The adults that were there were: Julia, Julie and Bob.
August 23, 2009
The Bethel attended Cook Memorial Methodist Church for Cassidy’s Church Sunday and performed the Living Cross. Cassidy’s boyfriend, Patrick F, a past Master Councilor for Kentucky Demolay gave the Cross Talk and did a wonderful job. After Church, we had a bake sale. The girls there were: Cassidy, Emily, Rachel, Sabrina and myself. The adults there were: Julia, Julie, Amanda R (Emily’s mom), her husband and daughter Madison and Patrick F.
August 23, 2009
After the Church Service and Bake Sale, we went over to Emily’s for a Swim Party and cook-out. The weather was kind of cool, but we had a great time.
August 27, 2009 thru August 29, 2009
The Bethel had a booth at Sellersburg Celebrates, where we had a Duck Pond, with different prizes and we did face painting with different designs. We also were in the parade on Saturday. We designed a float that was pulled by Kimber’s dad, Arvel.
We didn’t win any of the float awards, but had a great time designing the float and riding in it. Cassidy, Rachel, Sabrina and I rode in the float. Julia, Julie, Bob, Crystal, Skottie, Mason and Patrick watched us from the rode and cheered us on.

Bethel 107 - Dec - Feb 2010
Our Bethel's installation was December 12. I was installed as Honored Queen for this term. My fun emblem is skunks and my serious emblem is the Urn of Incense. My colors are black, white, pink, and shiny and my flowers are daisies and pink rosebuds. After the ceremony, we had a reception and dance with Job's and DeMolay. It was a lot of fun.
On Dec. 30th, we had a New Years Eve Eve party and sleepover. We had a count down to midnight with sparkling grape juice, hats, and noisemakers. Some of our girls even got Starbucks delivered to them by the Master Councilor of Hendricks County DeMolay! We had Karaoke and dancing and we even made a fort.
Jan. 9th, we went to the Masonic Youth Ice game. It was a lot of fun even though it took us a while to figure out which team was ours and how to play. We had lots and lots of cotton candy and our DeMolay had fun laughing at us when one of our girls (Hope) asked "where's the ball?" My uncle Kevin was the announcer so he pointed out that we were there. We went to the Pepsi Coliseum again the next Saturday to see the Naptown Roller Derby. The master of our lodge is a security guy at the roller derby so he got us in for FREE and we got VIP seating too. (Thanks, Ben) It was our first time for that too so we had no idea what was going on for a while, but we figured it out by half way through. The Naptown girls won by something like 250 to 25!
We were all off school for Martin Luther King, Jr. day so we went to the Children's Museum because it was free that day. We had a blast walking the runway in the Barbie exhibit, playing in the water in the science area, and dressing up like dinosaurs and lab workers. The place was so packed they stopped letting people in. After that, we went to the zoo where we donated canned goods to get in. We ran through the whole zoo in a half hour because we thought it closed at 4:00. Turns out they just stop letting people in a 4. So several of us sat in the gift shop eating sugar for quite a while waiting for the rest of our group.
On January 24th, I turned 15! I had a party at the lodge with cake and ice cream and all the usual birthday stuff, but instead of getting presents, I asked the girls in our bethel to bring gifts for boys or girls under 18 and unsigned birthday cards. We seperated everything and made birthday bags for the kids at Sheltering Wings (A domestic abuse shelter for women and children in Hendricks county). If a child has a birthday while they are living at the shelter, their mom will be able to pick a gift bag to give them. We also made some extra cards to give them.
For a fundraiser, our Bethel sells pizzas. We took orders and then the night before our OV, we had a pizza making party at the lodge. We get all the stuff and then hand make them. We have a long row of tables and girls with hair nets and rubber gloves and the pizza goes down the row with girls putting on different toppings. We are pretty good at it and it goes pretty fast. We listened to music and even had time to investigate Sierra (one of our bees). We had enough extras to eat a few. We made 120 pizzas in all! The next day was our official visit with Bethel 38 in Speedway. We had lots of people come from all over the state and we initiated 2 new girls, Sierra and Becca. They are both 10 and we were all happy for them to join us. Becca's mom is a past Miss Indiana Job's Daughter, Julia Buck Brainerd. After the meeting, we had a carniva with games, prizes, and carnival food (yum, yum). The Speedway DeMolay were nice enough to un all the games for us too.
A few of our girls attended the Grand Bethel Leadership conference. It was really fun and educational. We learned the history of Job's and what a lot of stuff means. We learned how to be ladylike and not empty other people's buckets. We played a few games and how a nice lunch. After the leadership, there was a social with the Supreme Guardian, Assoc. S.G.. Miss International, and the Supreme Bethel Honored Queen. We had a lot of fun learning about where they were from and what they do for fun there. The Supreme Guardian is from Australia. She plays a bunch of sports including basketball, and track. She also coaches, too. She met her husband when she was 16. She was the singer and he was the drummer in a band. The Miss International and S.B.H.Q. are both from Canada and they're really nice and funny. After getting to know them, we played catchphrase with them and some of Bethel #8. It was very intertaining.
We had a party planned for Sheltering Wings on Feb. 10, but it was too snowy so we went the next day. We took pizza, cupcakes, jello jiggler hearts, and heart-shaped sugar cookies. We played games and did crafts with the kids. We helped them ice and decorate the cookies. We made ballon hats and animals for them. There were alot of kids and they were so cute and energetic. The girls who went had a blast and said they would definately like to do it again.
Our bethel went to the sweetheart dance in style. With some of the profit of the pizza sale, we rented a limo. Twelve girls crammed in. It was a very squished ride. Our driver was really nice. He is a professional magician. At the dance, we met up with the rest of our bethel. We had 17 of our girls and 9 friends. Afterward, we went to Steak N Shake. That's all I have time for now.
